The Department of Energy Heat Pump Challenge

Lennox made headlines recently by being first to enter and first to complete the objectives of the U.S. Department of Energy’s “Cold Climate Heat Pump Technology Challenge.” In June, U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm came to Texas to personally congratulate our research and development team for the accomplishment.

Following up, clean technologies news aggregator CleanTechnica cited Lennox International for getting the DOE program “off to a roaring start,” pointing out that our prototype was not only the first, but also that it came in one year ahead of schedule, adding that “cold weather heat pumps for buildings could accomplish more planet-saving cuts in global emissions than a highway full of EVs (electric vehicles).”

Other coverage included the international photovoltaics publication PV Magazine as well as Texas broadcast outlets and the Dallas Morning News.

The International Builders’ Show

Media outlets were in full force for IBS 2022, and Lennox was pleased to be featured by many reputable sources.

Speaking to industry source The ACHR News, Brandon Chase, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Lennox Industries predicted that, as awareness grows among both residential and commercial users, heat pumps will become the primary heating source.

Highlights from the show itself include the BobVila.com feature on the Dave Lennox Signature® Collection SL25XPV Heat Pump, which Lennox was featured in the top three of their list of “10 Coolest Things We Saw,” focusing on the product’s “benefit to both homeowners’ wallets and the environment.”

Lennox also landed a spotlight on the A&E Networks series, Home.Made.Nation with interviews of Lennox Industries’ VP and GM, Quan Nguyen, speaking on new trends and how technology is improving homes, and Senior Product Marketing Manager, Ingrid Berkley, on the PureAir™S Air Purification System.

Sustainability Recently several industry magazines have touted our dedication to environmental sustainability, most recently in this March/April article in Yield Pro magazine. And in November, Contracting Business wrote about our joining a global coalition of companies in the Science Based Targets initiative to tackle climate change.

In another article titled, “New Cold Climate Heat Pump Focused on Accelerating Environmental Sustainability,” Cision’s PRNewswire quoted Tim Brizendine, Director of Product Management speaking about the SL25XPV heat pump and saying it offers “the highest possible efficiency for the lowest environmental impact.”

In the same article Betty Ungerman, VP, Deputy General Counsel/Chief ESG, Ethics & Compliance Officer, added that we are “furthering our heritage of bringing the most efficient and innovative products to market to reduce our end-users’ carbon footprint.”

Both Cision’s PRNewswire and Today’s A/C & Refrigeration News published articles announcing the Lennox Industries launch of Warranty Your Way™, the opportunity for homeowners to obtain 3-year labor coverage at no additional cost, which is the first and only option of its kind in the industry. They quoted Lennox Industries’ VP and GM, Quan Nguyen, who said “With the launch of Warranty Your Way, we are setting the new standard for HVAC manufacturer limited warranties and continuing Lennox’ legacy of innovation in all aspects of the industry.
